Our local Mens Sheds group have made a variety of bird boxes for us, to accommodate kestrels, little owls, barn owls, and tawny owls that may choose to take up residence on Horsell Common. All these species have been observed here before, but the boxes will help them thrive by providing more nesting opportunities. With the help of a bird expert, we have identified suitable locations for the boxes, that will maximise their chances of being used. Mens Sheds is a charity providing men with the opportunity to improve their wellbeing by connecting with and contributing to the local community – our partnership with them is an extremely worthwhile and valuable one, as both people and wildlife benefit.
