The Belted Galloway cattle are back in grasslands, grazing on invasive scrub to help the heather thrive and preserve our rare open heath.
Our cattle are generally calm, but please respect them:
Keep your distance and do not approach or feed them
Do not run or shout
If the cows approach you, stay calm and walk away slowly
Information for dog walkers:
When near the cattle, always have dogs under close control or on a lead
Be aware that cattle may react to dogs, especially if they feel threatened
Do not go between a cow and her calf
If the cattle become agitated and crowd around you, let your dog off the lead so it can move away safely
