Working Partners

To help us in our aims we work with local and national agencies at various times.

Thames Basin Heaths Partnership

Thames Basin Heaths Partnership have their main offices on the Heather Farm Site. Their role is to lessen the impact of increasing housing development and rising populations on the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area (SPA), which is internationally important and legally protected heathland and forestry. They have been wardening since 2015, engaging with visitors and local communities to encourage conservation of the protected areas.

The main Common is part of the Thames Basin Heaths. The world is losing its rare heathland habitats so saving the heathland is an important task of the Society. Our heathland has acquired the status of a “Special Protection Area” under European legislation designed to protect our heathland birds including Dartford warblers, nightjars and woodlarks.
