Dog Walking
Dog Walking at Horsell Common
Horsell Common is a great place to walk and we welcome well behaved dogs and their owners.
Heather Farm is an ideal starting point for walking your dog from with a large car park, dog friendly café and excellent dog washing facility for muddy paws.
Except for the Wetlands walk, dogs are permitted across all our land. Please be respectful of other visitors and wildlife by following our code of conduct:
- Please pick up dog faeces in all areas and place in the bins provided.
- Help protect rare ground nesting birds during the nesting season (March 1st to Sept 15th) by having dogs under close control and sticking to the main paths.
- Be aware of grazing animals which we use to help manage some areas of the Common. Look out for signs on gates to specific areas where cattle are present.
- Keep dogs under close control when approaching other visitors to the Common, especially children and horse riders.
- Keep dogs on leads when visiting the café at Heather Farm.
- Never leave dogs unattended in vehicles.
Please remember close control means:
Always ensure your dog is in sight & returns to you quickly when called. If you are not confident of your dog’s recall, please use a lead.
Professional dog walkers require a licence to operate a business on any land owned and managed by Horsell Common Preservation Society. For information on our licensing scheme please contact us at info@horsellcommon.org.uk
